When it comes to my boys, I go the extra mile. There’s little time in my day right now for anything that isn’t necessary. But when H1 came home from preschool last week, floored by his friend’s special birthday treat, asking for a special treat of his own to take in; I knew this task had been moved to the “necessary list.” Making cupcakes was too time consuming but the backup plan of Oreo’s wouldn’t be enough. Therefore, I created this compromise; “Deconstructed Oreo Cookie Bags.”
Step 1 – The ingredients. There are four things you need:
- Pillsbury’s Fluffy Frost in Funfetti Vanilla Marshmallow (2)
- Stauffer’s chocolate animal crackers
- Wilson’s clear mini treat bags
- Plastic cups with lids. (I used 1 oz cups from Gordon Food Service but these 2 oz. cups from Walmart come with lids.)
Step 2 – Assemble:
- Put frosting into Ziploc bags, snip the corner, and pipe into cups. Top with confetti from frosting container.
- Place 10-12 cookies in each bag.
- Top each bag with a frosting cup and close. Secure closure with included twist tie.
- For an added affect you can add ribbons, tag, etc. to jazz them up.
Voila! Bags of “deconstructed Oreo cookies” for the class. The feedback from the kids was ‘thank yous’ and ‘they were so good!’
